It only takes a moment to injure your hand or wrist, but the rehabilitation process can take weeks or months. This is where a certified hand therapist really helps. A certified hand therapist, or CHT, must have a minimum of five years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist and more than 2,000 hours of hand therapy practice to achieve certification. Most hand therapists do not have this additional experience and practice. With the certification’s rigorous requirements, testing and commitment of time and energy, it is no wonder that there are only a relatively small number of CHTs around the country. I’m new as a patient here but so far so good. The staff is friendly and professional. The space is a little small but that means that there are less people but more one on one time with your therapist. They seem to have adequate tools and knowledge to promote health and healing to hands.
